Welcome to
The WA Institute for Deaf Education

The WA Institute for Deaf Education provides education support services and facilities for Deafblind, deaf and hard of hearing children and their families throughout Western Australia.

The WA Institute for Deaf Education (WAIDE), together with Medical and Mental Health Services, Vision Education Services and the Centre for Inclusive Schooling form the Statewide Specialist Services of the Department of Education, Western Australia

WAIDE provides a range of inclusive educational services. These support the individual needs of deaf and hard of hearing students and their families, to ensure have the opportunity to achieve their potential. WAIDE promotes an understanding of deafness and the benefits of inclusive school communities. These services are available from the point of diagnosis, including infants identified by the Newborn Hearing Screening Program, through to the end of secondary school. Parental involvement is encouraged and valued at all phases of education.
